Among the thousands of noteworthy San Francisco destinations are a handful that the local cognescenti frequent. Eight San Franciscans-in-the-know share their favorite places to watch live performances, see art, eat, shop. They also give visitors a peek into a wild variety of just plain interesting spots around the city that they call “hidden gems,” “mind-blowing,” “haunting.”
